Welcome to OCD Lemmonaide!
Hi, I'm Summer Contreras-Lemmon! I provide independent OCD peer support services, share OCD-related resources, and keep a blog on mental health conditions, faith, and recovery. I look forward to supporting you wherever you are in your recovery!
About This Website
I created this website as a way to raise awareness of mental health conditions, especially OCD and related disorders, in the world and especially in churches and other spaces of faith. I also use this space to offer independent peer support services for individuals with OCD and to share OCD-related resources. Click here if you're interested in booking OCD peer support services with me!
About OCD Lemmonaide
OCD Lemmonaide is a word play using my married name, Summer Lemmon and the phrase, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." You have to admit that my name is cute and fun to work with! The lemons are OCD (and can represent any other challenge, really) and the "-aide" at the end of the phrase represents help. The character in the logo is named "Lemmonhead" (named by me) and was created by my wonderful friend, Erika McCoy, a fellow IOCDF Advocate and a Christian with OCD! You can find her Linktree with all of her advocacy work here. I hope this website encourages you, and if you decide to book peer support services with me, I hope I can offer a warm, caring space for you wherever you are in your journey!

About My Advocacy

I began my advocacy work during OCD Awareness Week in 2018, when I publicly shared my experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder through a 15-minute video. In that video, I defined OCD, discussed my personal journey, and addressed common misconceptions surrounding the disorder. Since that time, I have remained actively involved in a variety of OCD-focused advocacy initiatives and organizations.
Primarily, I advocate with the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) as what is known as an "IOCDF Advocate." According to the IOCDF, "The IOCDF Advocacy Program is a volunteer grassroots effort designed to empower those in the community to raise awareness and educate the public about OCD and related disorders." Some of my IOCDF Advocate activities include: writing articles for the IOCDF's quarterly newsletter, writing posts for their blog, and appearing in educational and advocacy-oriented livestreams.
In 2019, I participated in a short collaborative film about OCD by Robin Roblee-Strauss called "What if?". I have also shared my story via JACK Mental Health Advocacy and NOCD. Recently, I was interviewed on NOCD's "Get to Know OCD" podcast. Finally, I volunteer for San Diego State University's Center for Understanding and Treating Anxiety (CUTA) as a research assistant.
You can check out all of my articles and advocacy activities by visiting my Linktree!
